It’s been a busy October in Arkham. Fantasy Flight just wrapped up its annual Week of Arkham Horror, and two pieces of news stood out for us.

The big box is back: Arkham Horror Remastered

The classic Arkham Horror board game, the one many of us cut our Cthulhu teeth on, is getting a remastered edition. It’s live on Gamefound now as the first title in FFG’s new Vault Series of re-released classics.

Same core game: 1 to 8 investigators roam Arkham, fight or dodge monsters, and close gates before an Ancient One wakes up. What’s new is refreshed art and components, a rewritten rulebook, and content from the original expansions folded in.

Our take: up to 8 players makes this a proper table event game, the kind that fills an evening at the store. If the rulebook rewrite tames the old setup time, this could be the definitive version.

Card game: Traces to Nowhere

Over on Arkham Horror: The Card Game, the new Traces to Nowhere scenario pack is a straight-up mystery. Private investigator Aziza Steer’s husband vanishes, then so does she, and 1 to 4 investigators have to gather clues and question witnesses while something called the Abductor picks people (and your assets) off the board.

The best part is that the culprit changes each playthrough, so it’s actually replayable. Solve it and you can unlock Aziza as an investigator. Play it inside your campaign or as a one-off.
